ALBUFEIRA CONTINUES TO LEAD IN THE BLUE FLAGSFor the second consecutive year, Albufeira Town Hall has seen all of its beaches recognized with the highest environmental award: 25 Blue Flags of Europe (BAE), which is joined by the Marina award.
Returns to lead the ranking of the bluest municipalities at the national level. This award is awarded annually by the Blue Flag Association of Europe, according to a set of criteria for environmental management, water quality, services and user safety, among others.
A few days after the official opening of the bathing season, which begins in Albufeira on May 15, the Municipality receives another good news: the capital of Portuguese tourism returns to lead the national ranking with 25 beaches awarded the Blue Flag of Europe (BAE) - the highest award for environmental quality. This is the second consecutive year that Albufeira sees all of its beaches being recognized with this seal of quality, positioning the county in the first place at national level.
Also the Marina of Albufeira returns to show the award, along with the following beaches: Alemães, Arrifes, Aveiros, Barranco das Belharucas, Castelo, Coelha, Evaristo, Falésia/Açoteias, Falésia/Alfamar, Galé Leste, Galé Oeste, Inatel, Manuel Lourenço, Maria Luísa, Olhos d`Água, Oura, Oura-Leste, Peneco, Pescadores, Rocha Baixinha, Rocha Baixinha Nascente, Rocha Baixinha Poente, S. Rafael, Salgados e Santa Eulália.
It should be noted that throughout the country the number of bathing areas with BAE has been increasing over time. This year, there are 320 beaches that will raise the award (6 more than last year), of which 88 are Algarve beaches.
